Full name: Lung ventilation and perfusion
Nature: Macroaggregated particles trapped in capillaries (perfusion) and inhaled aerosols or gases (ventilation).
Normal expression: Lungs.
Value: Diagnosis of pulmonary embolism, preoperative assessment, pulmonary hypertension; ⁶⁸Ga V/Q PET improves resolution.
Approaches: [99mTc]MAA, Technegas, ¹³³Xe; [68Ga]MAA and Galligas for PET.
Indications explored: Pulmonary embolism, thoracic surgery, lung radiotherapy.
Points of caution: Relative contraindications (right-to-left shunt for MAA).
