Target note

Full name: Adrenal steroidogenic enzymes (CYP11B1/B2)
Nature: Etomidate derivatives bind to 11β-hydroxylase and aldosterone synthase.
Normal expression: Adrenals, liver.
Value: Lateralising primary aldosteronism without adrenal vein sampling.
Approaches: [11C]metomidate, [18F]CETO (para-chloro-2-fluoroethyl-etomidate).
Indications explored: Primary aldosteronism, adrenocortical tumors.
Points of caution: Dexamethasone premedication; selectivity for CYP11B2 remains imperfect.
